Our Story

A Local Family. Real Estate Experience. A Long-Term Vision.

We're Jim and Sarah, the husband-and-wife team behind JEM Homebuyers and JEM Rentals.

We got our start in real estate in 2014 when we turned our former home in Greenville into our first rental property. What began with one house has grown into a business focused on buying, renovating, renting, and selling homes throughout Darke County, Ohio, and neighboring Indiana communities.

In 2020, we decided to expand. One of our first major projects was a complete renovation of a 120-year-old duplex. It turned out to be a bigger challenge than we anticipated, but it gave us the kind of hands-on education you can't get from a book.

Since then, we've taken on everything from older rental properties and major renovations to inherited homes and properties purchased at auction. Some projects have gone smoothly. Others have taught us expensive lessons. That experience has shaped how we evaluate properties, manage renovations, and approach new opportunities.

Our children, Hunter and Sophie, have also helped with renovation projects along the way. While Sarah and I run the business, it's been rewarding to have them involved.

Today, JEM operates with two primary goals: helping property owners who want a straightforward way to sell and creating more opportunities for affordable homeownership.

We work with owners facing a variety of situations—inherited properties, unwanted rentals, houses needing substantial repairs, or simply a desire to sell without the traditional listing process. Not every situation is the same, and buying the property isn't always the best solution. We're happy to have that conversation.

Our long-term goal is to help 100 families become homeowners. We believe there's a real need for affordable, well-maintained homes in our area, and we're building JEM around that opportunity.
